Samick is the first piano maker to achieve ISO 9002 certification. The quality of workmanship is evident when you look closely at the fit and finish of a Samick piano. The world-renowned German scale designer, Klaus Fenner has created these pianos with a warm European voice. By combining the finest materials and craftsmanship with his award winning scale designs, he has created a piano that will make beautiful music for generations to come.

K. Gunner Benson’s skill and experience in piano design is evident in the refined lines and curves that make these the most beautiful case styles available today. The finest veneers and case construction assures you that your Samick piano will hold its beauty and value for many years.

The Samick grand pianos come in four sizes and offer the pianist a great sounding and playing piano at a tremendous value. The Samick vertical piano line offers the family with limited space a virtual upright grand piano. The size of the soundboard and the length of the bass strings rival many of the smaller size grands. Whether you choose a vertical or grand piano with Samick, you get the same great attention to detail and quality of materials. With proper care these instruments will last for many generations.

Yamaha reintroduced the classic Cable-Nelson brand in 2006. Presented as the entry-level to Yamaha quality, this revived brand is produced at the new Yamaha factory outside of Shanghai, China, with all design and manufacture executed by Yamaha using Yamaha employees and equipment. The Cable-Nelson product offers the same 10-year warranty as other Yamaha brands, with the full support of Yamaha Corporation of America.

The Cable-Nelson brand traces its roots to 1903 in Chicago, when Fayette S. Cable purchased two small piano companies. These companies, Lakeside Piano Company and Sweetland Piano Company, then became the Fayette S. Cable Piano Company. The Cable-Nelson brand resulted from a merger with the Nelson Piano Company in 1905.

“After a quarter-century absence, this classic American brand enjoys new life supported by outstanding Yamaha design and craftsmanship,” says Bernie McCaffery, Acoustic Piano marketing manager, Piano Division, Yamaha Corporation of America. “Customers can expect to receive the quality they expect from Yamaha at a very attractive price.”

Charles Kohler and John Calvin Campbell joined forces in New York in 1896 to create the Kohler & Campbell Industries, Inc. Campbell was a machinist who invented several wood and iron making machines and later took up piano making. He partnered with Charles Kohler for only 18 years, until the time of his unexpected death in 1908. John Campbell has been credited with pioneering many manufacturing techniques that instantly created more value for the dollar in Kohler & Campbell pianos. This was and is the cornerstone of Kohler & Campbell pianos…the best value for the dollar.

At the age of 20, Charles Kohler embarked on a piano-making career. Considered a genius as a factory organizer and businessman, he was the perfect complement to Campbell. Together they built one of America’s largest piano companies. As a testament to the quality, it is said that some of their largest customers were piano manufacturers of note that carried Kohler & Campbell pianos in their retail establishments. Today, the tradition continues and Kohler & Campbell pianos are sold in many of America’s finest retail establishments including Ellis Piano.

Success demands courage – and passion. Both these qualities were demonstrated by Wilhelm Schimmel, the founder of our company: shortly after the completion of his training as a piano manufacturer, he established his own workshop in Leipzig and produced his first piano at the beginning of 1885. His instruments were impressive for their advanced technique, excellent tone and contemporary form. Both he and his slogan “Quality will prevail” were proved right by his success. In 1927, his son Wilhelm Arno Schimmel took over the management of the company and relocated the site to Braunschweig (Brunswick) where he developed one of the major innovations of the 1930s: a small piano without back posts with a newly designed action and a unique tonal character. The family firm continued to flourish: by the end of the 1950s, Schimmel instruments were the most frequently purchased pianos produced in Germany – and were sent all round the world.

In 1961, Nikolaus Wilhelm Schimmel became head of the company and focused on the continuity of the firm’s expansion in the third generation. Increasing sales volumes necessitated the construction of a new company site in which special areas such as research and development were extended and intensified. Alongside the Schimmel Classic Serie, the company developed the Schimmel Konzert Serie over a period of approximately 20 years, thereby consolidating the company’s leading position in the market. In 2003, Nikolaus Wilhelm Schimmel passed on the management of the company to Hannes Schimmel-Vogel.

In adherence to the founding slogan “Quality will prevail”, he completed the product spectrum with additional models in the Konzert Serie and the conceptual design of a wide-ranging, extended Schimmel brand family. This courage in innovation and the passion for piano manufacture will also characterise the future development of the family firm – and guarantee the excellent quality of our grand and upright pianos!
